What do you get when you put two wealthy countries that have a lot of seafaring experience in close proximity of each other? A lot of naval wars. During the 17th and 18th century, the Dutch and English engaged in multiple conflicts about economic power and sea trade. The wars followed each other with just a few years in between each time, and it is hard to say whether they had a clear winner. But what were the effects of these wars?
